AIS-140 · India

Plan your AIS-140
installation before
the first vehicle.

Adding trackers across different vehicles? Check whether each needs a permanent wired installation or a compatible OBD-II setup, then agree documentation, fitment and applicable activation requirements before ordering.

Start with your vehicle

vehicle connects.

SafarTrak confirms ST100 and ST200 as AIS-140-certified models. Request current documentation for the exact model and revision you plan to use.

From purchase to deployment

A tracker in the box
is only the beginning.

Before a vehicle goes into service, the paperwork, fitment and required activation need to line up.

Vehicle categoryOperating stateDevice revisionRequired reporting

Requirements depend on the vehicle category and intended use. Confirm the applicable rules with the relevant transport authority.

  1. 01

Match the paperwork to the device

Request the certificate. Check the model, hardware revision, approval scope and current validity against the unit being supplied.

    Keep: model-specific documentation
  2. 02

Agree who installs and checks it

Confirm vehicle fitment, wiring or port compatibility and installation responsibilities. Record the vehicle and device identifiers, then validate the required reporting.

    Keep: installation and verification records
  3. 03

    Confirm registration and activation

Check which registration, backend connection and acceptance steps apply with the relevant authority. Confirm state-specific requirements and availability before purchase.

Keep: applicable activation and acceptance records

Before you place an order

Ask for evidence.
Keep it with the vehicle records.

A model certificate does not confirm that an individual vehicle is correctly fitted, registered or activated. AIS-140 should not be treated as a universal mandate for every vehicle in India.
