Understand the cost of waiting
Idle time has a cost.
Put your numbers to it.
Build a fuel-cost baseline before setting a target. Use your vehicle measurements and operating days to understand the scale of idling in your fleet.
- 01
Measure
Choose a representative vehicle group and reporting period.
- 02
Estimate
Use your fuel consumption and local fuel price.
- 03
Validate
Check which waiting time can actually be reduced.
Calculate monthly idling fuel cost
Starting values are examples. Replace them with your own measurements. Fuel consumption varies by vehicle, engine, load and auxiliary equipment.
Estimated monthly idling fuel cost
2,600 litres / month at your assumptions.
₹23,400 / month of potentially avoidable fuel cost, if that reduction is achieved.
Not a savings promise or a SafarTrak ROI claim. This excludes software, hardware, installation and operating costs.
The calculation, in full
Every assumption.
Out in the open.
Monthly litres = vehicles × idle hours per vehicle per day × litres per idle hour × operating days.
Monthly fuel cost = monthly litres × fuel price. The reduction scenario multiplies that cost by your selected percentage.
Idle-time reports alone do not measure fuel consumption. Establish litres per hour using suitable vehicle measurements; separate necessary stationary work from avoidable idling.
